I feel as if there is something new being added to social media every day and today is no different. Recently, I saw an article on PR Daily and the Verge that talked about a new Instagram feature that should be rolled out to the public in the next couple of months. This feature will certainly be a game changer and it will make live videos for our clients easier!
So what is this new feature? This is a new live feature that will allow you to add a friend into your live stream! What makes it great? They don’t even have to be in the same room as you!!!
How will this make our work easier? When it comes to scheduling live videos for more than two people, we have to find a time and date for both parties to meet. This can sometimes be a struggle because of scheduling conflicts and if we have a timeline of relevance for this video.
With this new feature, that will not longer be an issue because we can stream them from wherever they are! If you want to talk to more than one person, you will need to remove your guest and add the new one.
To use, you will click on an icon at the lower right corner of your live stream. That will then enable you to people to your live stream. After that, you will have the option to switch to a split screen that will show both you and the other broadcaster. The total time you are allowed for this live stream is an hour. After that, you can either decide to post it to your story or delete it.
Instagram wants this to be another way that you are able to connect with your friends, but for us, this is a great way to have our clients interact and have engagement with media members and influencers in real time. This should be seen as another tool for us to engage with our audience, and every professional’s approach with will be different.
