Sammis|Ochoa is a relatively young company being in the PR industry for roughly just over 9 years. Even so, the company has already established itself as the third largest Public Relations firm in San Antonio, and still gains momentum as we head towards the future. Thanks to the collaborative efforts of Co-Owners Tanya Sammis and Mario Ochoa, their clients have built lasting relationships between businesses and the communities they wish to be a part of.
However, even though Sammis|Ochoa maintains a strict communication plan at all times, they continually build a work culture that is rivaled by the best. The phrase “Do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life” is an accurate depiction of what it’s like to work at Sammis|Ochoa.
Tanya and Mario have created a set of core values designed to encourage their employee’s to do their best and most importantly, to “have faith and never give up”. We boost moral by kicking off our Monday staff meetings by praising our co-workers that are doing a good job while encouraging those that are struggling to do better.
Every day that I come into the office here’s what I can expect:
- Challenging tasks that sharpen my communications skills
- Uplifting Co-workers that treat me as an equal, a friend, and more than an intern
- Superiors that refuse to let me be nothing shy of excellent
To give my readers an insight as to what a day in the life at Sammis|Ochoa looks like I’ll share some tasks that I’ve been a part of. I’ve run social media at the 2019 Khaki Plaid Gala for Hope for the Future SA while also conducting a Facebook live. I’ve written multiple press releases for restaurants, schools, and business owners paired with creating boilerplates from scratch. Conducted multiple S.W.O.T analysis’s on potential clients, which are then processed and used for drafting business proposals/contracts.
These tasks may seem minuscule for an internship, but let me assure you….. that was only my first week.
Since then I have published four blogs to our companies site, including one publication on medium. Coordinated a public relations conference at the Geekdom Event Center to be held in September, set to hold 80-100 guest with guests speakers, sponsors included. Performed live interviews to showcase grand openings for new restaurants, Etc.
Should I continue?
Working for Sammis|Ochoa has given me opportunities to work in our community and do things that go beyond myself. My job allows me to stay plugged in with the city and help mold the pieces of San Antonio into a unified story.
This internship has been fruitful and overall has transitioned me into a better communicator. I am extremely grateful to both Mario and Tanya for guiding me through this journey and doing so with a smile.
Sammis|Ochoa is currently looking for summer interns. If you’d like to learn more about the realm of communications and public relations please contact tanya@sammisochoa.com or call us at (210) 390-4284. We look forward to hearing from you.
